Rebecca Harrell Tickell made a go of it as an actress, but never really caught on. That doesn't mean she's left the business, though.

The 1989 Christmas heartwarmer "Prancer," about a little girl who finds an injured reindeer and assumes it's Prancer fallen from Santa's sleigh, was her first acting role, but her performance won rave reviews.

No less an authority than Roger Ebert praised the film, and its nine-year-old star in particular.

"What really redeems the movie, taking it out of the category of kiddie picture and giving it a heart and gumption, is the performance by a young actress named Rebecca Harrell, as Jessica," he wrote. "She's something. She has a troublemaker's look in her eye, and a round, pixie face that's filled with mischief."

However, this would prove to be the peak of her career. The following year, she appeared in the short-lived CBS sitcom "Room for Romance," which was canceled after five episodes. A few other TV roles followed, as well as a few more films, mostly directed by John D. Hancock, who also directed "Prancer" and apparently took a liking to Harrell.

In recent years, she's switched jobs and now seems to have a fairly steady career as a documentary producer and director, alongside her husband Joshua Tickell.

The two make environmentally conscious features such as "The Big Fix" (2012), about the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
