Q&A

Q: There's a long-running Prevagen commercial in which the pharmacist strolls away from the customer after showing her the product -- I assume to ring up the purchase. Is the actor the same man who plays the PR guy in "Blue Bloods"?

No, but if Gregory Jbara ever retires from "Blue Bloods," Eric Thompson's the guy to replace him. The two look remarkably similar.

Their height, salt-and-pepper hair and dark-but-kind eyes are present with both of them, but -- and this is no drag on Thompson -- Jbara has translated those attributes into more mainstream success.

Thompson has only had a handful of film, theatre and commercial roles -- the Prevagen ad being one of the most recent -- while Jbara is an established film, TV and stage actor with dozens of roles on his resume.

Long in demand as a supporting actor on the large and small screens (his first credit is a small role on a 1987 episode of "Newhart"), Jbara won a Tony for his role as the father in "Billy Elliot: The Musical" on Broadway. He also won two Drama Desk awards -- one for the same role in "Billy Elliot" and the other for the stage adaptation of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels."

He's now best known for "Blue Bloods," however, having played NYPD Deputy Commissioner Garrett Moore since the end of the show's first season back in 2011 -- a total of 197 episodes so far, which would make it the biggest role on most actors' resumes.
