Q: I just found out they made another "Nikita" show a few years ago. How many have there been now?

There have been four "Nikita" productions -- so far, at least. That's either a lot or surprisingly few, depending on how you look at it.

Remaking a hit movie (in this case 1990's "Nikita") three more times is, objectively, a lot, but there are reasons it made sense. It was a French film, so, of course, it had to be remade in English (giving us 1993's "Point of No Return"). Both were hits, and so a TV production made sense, and thus the 1997 Canadian series "La Femme Nikita" aired and was syndicated in the U.S.

Then Hollywood, and CW in particular, went reboot crazy, and so the "Nikita" series you're talking about was born in 2010 (and later canceled in 2013).

Again, that's a lot, but if that list still seems short to you, it could be because the story framework -- a young woman is groomed to be a super-assassin only to turn good and seek vengeance on her handlers -- has been repeated elsewhere.

See, for example, Marvel superheroine Black Widow and the recent BBC America hit "Killing Eve" (among plenty of other examples in popular culture).

One wouldn't be able to call these "remakes of 'Nikita'" any more than to say that super-soldier stories like the Jason Bourne movies are remakes of Captain America. The fact is that certain story seams are too thematically rich to not be mined more than once.
