Q: What book is the new Jack Ryan movie based on? I haven't seen it yet, but I want to know what I'm getting in to when I do.

There's no preparing for "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," because it's not based on a book.

The new film featuring the popular Tom Clancy character is made from an original screenplay by ... well, a bunch of people.

Though established screenwriters Steve Zaillian, Hossein Amini, Anthony Peckham and David Koepp are all said to have contributed to the final product, it's apparently built mostly from a script by rookie Adam Cozad, and one that was not about Jack Ryan at all.

Q: I love watching Jeremy Clarkson on the British version of "Top Gear," but he is very outspoken about his opinions regarding, well, everything. Has he ever been sued over his comments?

Beloved loudmouth Jeremy Clarkson has been in the hot seat plenty of times for his comments on the show, but they only led to one actual lawsuit, and it was dismissed. They led to plenty of other trouble, though.

Electric car maker Tesla Motors sued Clarkson and "Top Gear" for libel over a negative review on the show, saying the review "contained lies and misinformation about the Roadster's performance, behavior and reliability."

Q: Is "Bates Motel" going to come back on? I have not seen anything about it.

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

It has been a while since we've seen a new episode of "Bates Motel," but fortunately in this case that means we're just that much closer to seeing one. Season 2 of the highly acclaimed series premieres March 3 on A&E.

That matches last season's run, which premiered March 18, meaning you can be forgiven for worrying (Season 1 ended in May -- nine months ago).

My New Year's resolution is that I'm going to take more time off this year. Actually, it wasn’t my resolution, but I'm going to do it anyway.
