Maybe you know her as Barbara Cooper from “One Day at a Time,” or as Melanie Moretti from “Hot in Cleveland.” Maybe you’ve read her books or tried her recipes. No matter how you know her, Valerie Bertinelli has made an impact both on and off the television screen.

With three feature films under her belt and a mile-long resume of TV appearances, it’s not surprising that this star is now hosting the 14th season of “Valerie’s Home Cooking,” a weekend daytime staple on Food Network. She is perfectly at home in front of the camera and even more comfortable whipping up delicious fare, from bespoke breads and luscious pastas to cheery cherry margaritas.

Over a decade in, Bertinelli is still wowing viewers with impressive recipes, such as the "gallery-worthy dishes" (per Food Network) featured in a new episode airing this Sunday, April 9. Bertinelli is ready to welcome spring, and she starts her culinary celebration with a colorful roasted vegetable lentil salad, served with focaccia garden bread. Moving on, she makes acqua pazza — Italian poached fish — for a stunning entree, before ending the meal with a strawberry lemonade zebra cake.

Outside of her own kitchen, Bertinelli has made appearances in shows such as “Iron Chef America” and “Cutthroat Kitchen,” and she previously hosted “Family Food Showdown” and “Family Restaurant Rivals.” In 2020, she became a special correspondent for NBC's "Today" show, and in 2021, Bertinelli was set to return to scripted work, starring in a pilot titled “Hungry." Unfortunately, it never aired, but she continues to serve as executive producer of her (two-time) Daytime Emmy Award-winning Food Network show, and she also co-hosts and co-judges the ever-popular “Kids Baking Championship.”

For those who are hungry for more, Bertinelli has also whipped up an assortment of books about her experiences and her relationship with food, including two cookbooks: “Valerie’s Home Cooking” and “One Dish at a Time: Delicious Recipes and Stories from my Italian-American Childhood and Beyond.”

You can also check out Season 14 of “Valerie’s Home Cooking,” with a new spring-themed episode airing Sunday, April 9, on Food Network.
