Quinn and Ivy go toe-to-toe while working together, disagreeing on who should be the new face of Forrester Creations, and tensions come to a head when Ridge makes his decision on the matter. After watching a video from the night Aly died, Steffy is haunted by the memory and is backed into a corner by Ivy, who plans to use the video to blackmail her. Liam promises to stand up for Steffy and forces Ivy to make a tough choice. Steffy, meanwhile, is worried about what may happen to her if the video were to end up in police custody. Ridge, unaware of the office turmoil, grows suspicious of the goings-on and begs Steffy to tell him what's weighing on her mind. Elsewhere, Thomas tries to put aside his feelings for Caroline and suggests she and Ridge discuss their future. Aware that Thomas and Caroline have a past, Nicole approaches Thomas to ask him how working with Caroline is affecting him. Maya and Rick are back in town following their honeymoon.
Aiden goes to Rafe and tells him that he has feelings for Hope, while Hope tells John that she wants to move on from Bo with Aiden. A wedding is on the horizon as Aiden proposes to Hope. Steve makes a surprising return to Salem, shocking Kayla. Unhappy with the fact that Sonny has left, Will takes his anger out on Paul. Serena and Chad go out for drinks, where they hit it off as they commiserate. Unfortunately, Serena and Chad's fun night soon takes an upsetting turn. Thrown into a dangerous situation by Eve, JJ and Jennifer find themselves in big trouble. Theresa jumpstarts her plot in order to garner sympathy from Brady, but her plan has some alarming aftereffects for Xander. A discovery shocks Eric.
Nathan and Dante make a remarkable discovery while working together, which leads to an arrest, but they continue investigating Silas's murder. Ava's jig might be up and her cover blown after Scott makes a big accusation. Franco goes out on a limb, and he and Nina start to cosy up to each other more. Later, Franco spills the beans to Kiki, who learns the truth. Nina is encouraged by Alexis to devote more time to herself first and foremost. Morgan learns some shocking news and is flabbergasted by what he hears, prompting him to confront someone. A certain portion of Dillon's script elicits a response from Lulu. Jake and Little Jake hang out together. Julian charges that Sonny set him up, and later goes to the Port Charles Police Department to look for a familiar face. Sonny goes on the hunt for a certain someone.
Resolved in her decision to leave the GCAC and move back into her own place, Abby goes to Stitch to tell him, catching him completely off guard. Jack takes over the search for Marco when he decides that he cannot trust Victor to help him out. Victor openly accepts Sage into the Newman family and works towards accepting Marisa as well. With Paul on medical leave, Christine soon discovers that Dylan is doing some dirty work for him. Chelsea and Adam go to Paris in the search for a new home after making up their minds to leave Genoa City. Jack makes some workplace changes at the insistence of Phyllis, and Lauren reveals to Cane that her marriage with Michael is happily heading in the right direction. Sharon tells Mariah about her relationship with Dylan.
As the summer winds down, catch up with rookie police detective James Gordon (Benjamin McKenzie) as he patrols the streets and fights corruption. Set before the era of Batman, the drama traces the rise of Gordon and several supervillains.
Fans of CBS's Sherlock-Holmes-in-modern-day-New York series "Elementary" will have to wait a while to see what follows the third season's cliffhanger finale. (I won't spoil it for anyone planning to binge-watch the whole season before the new one starts, but I will say that the events threaten to undo all of the progress in Holmes and Watson's relationship over the past three years.)
