Q: In 2005 or near that time, I watched a movie on IFC that was a simulated newscast about a group of young people in a tent in the New Jersey woods being pursued by someone or something. Can you tell me the name of the movie and whether it is available o

It sounds like the movie you're thinking of is "The Last Broadcast" (1998), one of multiple horror movies based on the legend of the Jersey Devil.

According to the New Jersey Historical Society, the Jersey Devil is a creature that stalks the remote wooded area known as the Pine Barrens, with numerous attacks and "blood-curdling cries" ascribed to it. The legend is that the devil is the cursed, 13th child of Deborah Smith Leeds, who lived in the region in the 1700s.

Q: What happened with “The Whispers”? Did it really end that way, never to return, or will it be coming back?

There are a couple of reasons why the renewal or cancelation of ABC's summer thriller, "The Whispers," has been tricky -- one of which is the reason why your question is tricky as well.

The network hasn't made a decision on the series. It wasn't an outright hit in the ratings, though its "plus-three" numbers -- that is, the people who watch the show within three days on their DVRs (digital video recorders) -- were reportedly a lot better.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, on CW
