In 1992, after a mission to save the space shuttle Endeavor, Jean Grey (Turner) has her psychic abilities amplified from what is believed to be a solar flare. While learning to control her pain on the island of Genosha, she encounters Vuk (Chastain), who reveals that the solar flare that altered Jean's abilities was actually a cosmic force that has possessed her.
