Recently unemployed and unkempt journalist Fred Flarsky (Rogen) reconnects with his childhood crush and babysitter, U.S. Secretary of State Charlotte Field (Theron), at an upscale charity event thrown by Flarsky's best friend, Lance (Jackson). After hiring Flarsky as her new speechwriter to prepare for her presidential campaign, the two become romantically involved. As Charlotte's approval numbers rise, Maggie (Raphael), Charlotte's staffer, tries to warn her of the repercussions of dating someone like Fred. When an ultimatum forces the two apart, Fred must decide what means more to him: other people's needs and opinions or his own.
In a world that assigns dolls to specific children based on their traits, deformed and "imperfect" dolls are banished to the remote town of Uglyville because of their differences. Optimistic doll Moxy (Clarkson) dreams of the "Big World" beyond Uglyville, and of some day belonging to a child. After getting advice from Lucky Bat (Leehom), Moxy makes the journey to the town of Perfection with her friends Ugly Dog (Pitbull), Wage (Sykes) and Babo (Iglesias). Throughout their journey to find a child of their own, the hopeful group must overcome bullies, confront their differences and discover that someone's appearance isn't what matters most.
When young married couple Scott (Ealy) and Annie (Good) move into their dream home in Napa Valley, they quickly realize that the home's previous owner, Charlie Peck (Quaid), is obsessed with making sure the house remains as he left it. After discovering that Charlie's wife recently died of cancer, and that he will be moving to Florida, Annie takes pity on him, even though he continuously shows up unannounced at their home. Scott becomes suspicious of Charlie and his growing fixation on Annie. When Scott discovers that Charlie's wife really committed suicide, his doubt grows, and he realizes he must defend his wife and his home from the crazed former owner.
