When his manager (Plummer) uncovers a letter that John Lennon wrote to Danny more than 40 years ago, he takes its advice to heart and becomes determined to change his life's trajectory. He gives up the drugs, leaves his wife to her younger lover and crosses the country to connect with his adult son Tom (Cannavale), whom he's never met and is the result of a brief fling decades prior.
