Well, Charleston's "Charm" has persisted, but Miami proved less than magical for Starz viewers.

Bravo has indeed renewed "Southern Charm," a reality show about the "unique and insular culture" of Charleston high society, for a second season, but "Magic City" was canceled by the Starz network after two fairly low-rated seasons.

But good on Starz for sticking with it. "Magic City," set in the world of organized crime in Miami in the 1950s, was an under-performer more or less from the start.

In a rare move, the network issued an official statement about the show's cancelation, "We are tremendously proud of the series and everyone involved."

The statement also said that the fact that the show was given a full two seasons allowed the writers to give the show a "satisfying conclusion."

There is, of course, no conclusion necessary for "Southern Charms," which was a hit for Bravo in its first season this past winter.

The show fits nicely with Bravo's other established reality shows, particularly the Real Housewives and Million Dollar Listing franchises. All three offer inside views of the eccentricities of wealthy people in a few well-known, even iconic, cities.
