Having mastered the busting of ghosts, Ernie Hudson took to television to try busting fairy-tale characters.

Hudson, who played a villainous version of the Greek sea god Poseidon on ABC's "Once Upon a Time" a few weeks ago, is best known by just about everyone for having played Winston Zeddmore in the modern classic "Ghostbusters" (1984) and its 1989 sequel.

But it's possible you remember him from elsewhere. He's done dozens of film and TV roles since hanging up his proton pack (that's the gun-like weapon the Ghostbusters used to catch ghosts).

His next biggest role was as warden Leo Glynn on the gritty (that is to say, frequently profane and violent) prison drama "Oz" on HBO. His other notable roles include playing Sandra Bullock's FBI boss in the "Miss Congeniality" movies (2000 and 2005) and another lawman, Sgt. Albrecht, in the cult-classic "The Crow" (1994).

But it would be hard to get a more prestigious role than Poseidon, Greek god of the sea. It was a one-off gig on "Once Upon a Time" (so far, at least), a show about a world where fairy-tale characters are real.
