Perhaps not surprisingly, you're apparently not the first person to wonder that.
Though it's hard to say where he -- or rather the costumers at Chuck Lorre Productions -- got the shirts initially, the show's massive popularity has made it easy for followers to dress like Sheldon after the fact.
The hit CBS sitcom has spawned a fairly sizable industry of marketing the T-shirts worn by "The Big Bang Theory's" delightfully awkward arch-nerd. Not surprisingly, most of it's on the Internet, a realm pretty much tailor made for such niche markets.
The websites SheldonShirts.com and The-Big-Bang-Theory.com both have pretty exhaustive lists of Sheldon's geek-chic attire, but don't actually sell the shirts. They point readers to sites such as 80stees.com, SuperHeroStuff.com and StylinOnline.com, where his vintage-looking, comic-book shirts and others can be purchased.
CBS itself has also gotten in on the game, selling a select few of his shirts -- such as the one with the iconic Green Lantern symbol -- as well as T-shirts based on the show itself (multiple displays of the word "Bazinga," for example).
But of course, these shirts are mostly referencing comic books and such nerd-friendly topics that date to well before the birth of the series, so the shirts are available elsewhere as well.
