Much like the Springfield of "Simpsons" fame, the Danville of "Phineas and Ferb" apparently doesn't actually exist.

The popular Disney Channel children's series takes place in the City of Danville, though the only other information the show gives is to say it's in "the tri-state area." Both of these facts were designed to be ambiguous, says series creator Dan Povenmire.

"Much like 'Springfield,' there are many, many states with a Danville in them so any one of them can claim it," he said in an interview with "Phineas and Ferb" megafan Chris Powers, who helps run the Phineas and Ferb Wiki website.

Povenmire admitted that in fact the town was named after him.

Prior to that word from the man himself, the Wiki site had given a lot of space to speculation about the true location of Danville.

The "tri-state area" references suggested that Danville, Ill., could have been the one, though the show's Danville lies next to an ocean (Illinois proponents suggest Lake Michigan is substantial enough to count). Also, there are literally dozens of places in the United States that lay claim to being "tri-state areas."
