Q&A

Q: Many years ago, I remember a Saturday morning sitcom named "Bailey Kipper's P.O.V." It was about a boy who documented his family and friends' lives on videotape. I'm wondering if it ever made it onto DVD.

Memory's a tricky thing, especially childhood memory. Time spans seem longer when you've only been alive for a few years, so that a show that was only on for a few weeks can seem like a TV mainstay.

Such is the case with "Bailey Kipper's P.O.V." The Saturday morning sitcom only aired from September to December of 1996 -- 13 episodes in total. And, unfortunately, that lack of longevity means it never got a DVD release.

It's been said before, but it also didn't help that none of the principal actors went on to bigger stardom.

Michael Galeota, who played the titular Bailey Kipper, went on to a bit more success afterward. He won a Young Artist Award for his "Bailey" role and a few years later landed a leading role in the Disney Channel series "The Jersey," which lasted three seasons, ending in 2004. But he more or less gave up acting after that.

If you want a quick trip down memory lane, small clips of the show can still be found on YouTube, including one of the show's lengthy intro. This was toward the end, but also the peak, of the tradition of making long show intros that explain the whole premise, often in song form (think "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," and in fact Galeota raps through part of it as well). The way people are discussing the show on YouTube suggests you aren't alone in remembering it more fondly, and thoroughly, than its ratings success would suggest.
