Q&A

Q: I've been watching reruns of "The Office" and just saw the episode where they're interviewing new managers. Who were all the guest stars doing cameos? I feel like I recognized most of them, but not all.

If you're one of the people who blinks more than once in a half hour, there's a good chance you missed a celebrity cameo in "Search Committee," the hour-long finale of the seventh season of "The Office."

So, here they are: film star Jim Carrey, "Everybody Loves Raymond" star Ray Romano, celebrity billionaire Warren Buffett (who asks whether the job pays for long-distance phone calls and gas expenses), "Arrested Development" star Will Arnett, Ricky Gervais (who created the original, British version of the show and reprises his character here) and former '80s star James Spader.

Spader's character eventually gets the job, but then promptly gets a promotion out of it, though his character becomes a regular on the series.

Another guest star, Catherine Tate, also becomes a regular. She was a famous comedian in Britain before her appearance, but was mostly unknown here. Her character, Nellie Bertram, also became a regular in the final two seasons of the show.

The entire fictional job search was spurred by the writing-out of previous celebrity guest star Will Ferrell, who appeared in four episodes as unpredictable manager Deangelo Vickers.
