Q&A

Q: I saw a movie many years ago with Elvis Presley and Dana Delany in it and I cannot remember the name of the movie. Can you tell me what the name was and what year it was made?

I'm afraid I can't, because that movie seems to not exist.

Normally it would be hard to say that with any certainty, considering Elvis starred in 31 films in his career, and they were all written in such a way as to make the rest of the cast easy to miss. But in this case it's easier since Elvis died before Delany even started acting.

Perhaps you're thinking of Mary Tyler Moore? Moore, another brown-haired actress best known for her TV work, appeared opposite The King in his final film, 1969's "Change of Habit." She played a nun trying to help Elvis's character, a doctor trying to clean up the slum in which he lives. She, of course, begins to fall for him and must choose between him and her calling.

Otherwise, I could play the odds and say you might be thinking of Shelley Fabares -- she spent the most time as Elvis's leading lady, appearing in "Girl Happy" (1965), "Spinout" (1966) and "Clambake" (1967) with him.

Though she and Delany don't look particularly alike, they worked together for a few years as voice actors on the late '90s "Superman" animated series (and a 2006 straight-to-video feature, "Brainiac Attacks") -- Fabares voiced Superman's mom, Martha Kent, and Delany voiced Lois Lane.
