Your instincts are good. Linda Reagan died off-screen on "Blue Bloods" and audiences were only told about it. And so was Linda, in a way

Amy Carlson, who portrayed Linda on the first seven seasons of the hit CBS drama, told Deadline.com that she was as shocked as anyone about how her character was written off the show.

"I feel badly that she dies the way she dies. I did not know they would do that. I was surprised."

She said she decided to leave the show at the end of her contract but thought she'd be able to return at the beginning of Season 8 to give her character a proper ending. But the producers didn't want her to.

She's sad that fans were left feeling a lack of closure or, in your case, even a sense of confusion.

"It would've been nice for the fans to see her demise, to be a participant in it, and that was my vote for the fans."

It's clear that it didn't affect the fans too much, though. The show is still a solid ratings performer for CBS, drawing millions of viewers to a traditionally difficult Friday night time-slot.
