As glamorous as Lucy Liu's Dr. Watson may look, "Elementary's" costume designer Rebecca Hofherr said that her goal was to make her look relatable.

"My inspiration for Watson came from New York City working women," Hofherr told the fashion website Possessionista.com.

Her strategy is to pair expensive designer items with things she finds at the mall. As for what mall stores she favors, she drops names such as Zara, Gap and H&M as sources of past Watson outfits. Of course, Watson is a New Yorker, and so there are some Bloomingdale's items as well.

Hofherr makes it sound easy, but it's a big job, and she's grateful to have help from Liu herself.

"She has an amazing sense of style and a great eye for clothes," Hofherr said. "Plus, Watson has about 200 outfits throughout our 24-episode season, so sometimes I need some creative collaboration."

You aren't alone in your interest in Watson's fashion, either. If you're looking for more detailed info, websites such as JoanWatsonsCloset.tumblr.com and WornOnTV.net have extensive lists of outfits from the show with links to where they can be purchased online.
