Q: I heard that Discovery is doing away with the DIY Network and replacing it with one built around the Gaines family from "Fixer Upper." Has Discovery announced what will become of the shows on DIY? I love "Texas Flip 'n' Move," "Big Texas Fix," anything

It seems these decisions are still being made.

Discovery announced in April that it was rebranding the DIY Channel as the still-unnamed Chip and Joanna Gaines channel. A few days after the news, the Snow sisters, stars of DIY's "Texas Flip'n'Move," said on Twitter that they didn't know what would happen to their show, and they haven't offered any updates since.

The people behind "Barnwood Builders," who run a collective Twitter account for the show, took a more optimistic angle. When asked about what would happen to their show, they said they're "not going anywhere any time soon."

That's optimistic, but it's also just factual. The big Gaines rebrand isn't scheduled to happen until next summer, meaning DIY will carry on as is for a full year.

But there are reasons for fans of the current DIY slate to be optimistic about the more distant future. Discovery's official announcement said the new network "will center around topics including community, home, garden, food, wellness, entrepreneurialism and design." Any of the shows currently on DIY would fit comfortably into that range (granted, it's a pretty broad range).
