He has, though of course none quite like it.
Curry made himself into a cult hero with his very first big-screen role, as the gender-bending Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the genre-bending musical sex-comedy "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" in 1975.
None of his subsequent screen-musical work has been as famous -- arguably no screen musical in history has been as famous or influential -- but he has done some.
He played the villainous Rooster Hannigan, brother of the equally villainous orphanage keeper Miss Agatha Hannigan (played by Carol Burnett), in the 1982 film version of the Broadway musical "Annie," performing the song "Easy Street" along with Burnett and Bernadette Peters.
He also played Long John Silver in 1996's "Muppet Treasure Island," performing two musical numbers along with the usual chorus of puppets.
Few know that he tried his hand at TV stardom as well. He had the lead in the very short-lived sitcom "Over the Top," which only aired three episodes in 1997 but also allowed him to do a few songs (he played a showbiz washout trying to get back in the biz).
He's also done a lot of voice work for animations, many of which have included songs.
But this is just on film. He's had a long and esteemed stage career as well, including quite a few musicals. In 2005, he was nominated for a Tony for his role as King Arthur in "Spamalot," the hit stage rendition of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."
