Alas, "Drop Dead Diva" has dropped dead for good this time, and star Brooke Elliott has sort of dropped off the radar.

Despite the fact that the series was a hit for Lifetime, it had already been canceled once before, after its fourth season. The network thought it was costing too much per episode (Lifetime still isn't a major player in the original-series game, so its budgets are even tighter than most).

This time it's really gone, though -- the finale of its sixth season, which aired back in June 2014, was truly its last episode.

And despite the fact that Elliott won rave reviews in the role ("USA Today" called her "a full-blown instant star," and TV critic Ralph Galvan demanded that she get an Emmy for the show's final season), she hasn't found all that much work since. Indeed, the only role she's had is a key supporting turn in the upcoming indie dramedy "Trew Calling," due out in 2016.

"USA Today" calling her an "instant star" was in reference to the fact that she had little screen experience prior to getting the "Diva" lead. Her only two previous roles were in a 2005 episode of "Law & Order: Trial by Jury" and the role of "woman in park" in the 2000 big-screen comedy "What Women Want." Most of her acting has been on the stage.

And her shortage of new roles since "Diva" could be due to the fact that she's still weighing her options. When asked by "The Hollywood Reporter" what she was planning to do next, she said: "I'm spending time with family and taking a little bit of rest, and then I don't know."
