Michael Weatherly's character, Tony DiNozzo, doesn't make any references to his on-screen boss's other roles, but he does give a mention to one of his off-screen boss's other shows.

In the season 3 episode "Frame Up," DiNozzo says he's a fan of the classic '80s action series "Magnum, P.I." That series was one of the early hits created by TV megaproducer Donald P. Bellisario more than a decade before he created "NCIS."

And that was just one of a number of mentions "Magnum P.I." has gotten in "NCIS."

DiNozzo is also a fan of another Bellisario series, "Airwolf." In the first-season episode "Dead Man Talking," he introduces himself as Stringfellow Hawke, which is also the name of the main character of the mid-'80s helicopter-based (you read that right -- it was the '80s) action series.

Sadly, Weatherly's film-referencing days are nearly up. The actor recently announced that he's leaving "NCIS" at the end of this season.

"Les Moonves and CBS gave me the opportunity of a lifetime," he wrote on Twitter when he announced his decision. "DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character and I couldn't have had more fun playing him over the last 13 seasons."

He's made no mention of his future plans. So far, the rest of his Twitter feed features pictures of him partying, guest-DJing radio shows and generally living it up. He's earned it after 13 seasons and nearly 300 episodes (the show still has nearly 10 episodes left to air this season, so by the time the season ends he'll have surpassed the 300 mark).
