Q&A

Q: Could you please tell me what happened to one of my favorite programs, "Well Read," on WGBX? The last programs were all repeats and I wonder why there aren't any new ones.

You may have just caught it on its March break.

"Well Read" is currently in season 4, and apart from airing repeats in March, producer Greg Lane assures me that the show will be releasing a new episode almost every week through to the end of July.

The series, which profiles authors and reviews new books, is produced by the Washington Public Affairs Network and is aired on PBS affiliates across the country.

Though it is releasing new episodes every week until the summer, some affiliates (such as your WGBX) air it daily, which means they have to throw some repeats in there to keep up the pace.

But there will be a steady feed of new episodes to keep things somewhat fresh. Not only is season 4 going to last through to the summer, but "Well Read" has already secured a fifth round.

Season 5 will debut in September, just a few weeks after season 4 finishes up, and will feature 39 new episodes.

As for the rest of this season, the show has some pretty big names from the writing world lined up for interviews. Crime-writing great Dennis Lehane will be on the show in May to talk about his new novel, "World Gone By," and in June, multi-award-winning author Joyce Carol Oates will be on talking about her newest release, "The Sacrifice."
