It's still a little early to be thinking about Christmas movies, but the music from "Love Actually" is fairly timeless.

Music figures heavily in the film, from the wedding scene featuring a pop-up rendition of The Beatles' "All You Need Is Love" to the hilarious prime ministerial dance scene set to "Jump (For My Love)" by The Pointer Sisters. However, arguably the most memorable song used is for the big, closing scene at the airport, set to "God Only Knows" by The Beach Boys.

The song is considered one of the best in the classic American pop act's catalogue, having appeared on their groundbreaking (and fairly experimental, for its time) album "Pet Sounds."

The choice of this very American band to cap off that very British movie might have raised a few eyebrows, but the song once received a very British endorsement. The Beatles' Paul McCartney once reportedly said it was his favorite song.

Brian Wilson, chief songwriter of The Beach Boys, told the BBC recently that "God Only Knows" is "one of the best I've ever written."

While it's not a Christmas song by any means, it's not that far off-theme. Penned in 1965, Wilson was reportedly worried about putting the word "God" into a pop song, which was beyond edgy for the time. However, he eventually went with it because, he said, it was in fact a spiritual song.

That said, it's no "Silent Night." Indeed, there are only two proper Christmas songs on the official film soundtrack, one being a rendition of the modern "All I Want for Christmas Is You" performed by one of the film's child stars, Olivia Olson.
