Q: Am I the only one who thinks Tom Hanks and Juliette Lewis look enough alike to be twins? Are they by chance related -- cousins or something?

I'm afraid Tom Hanks and Juliette Lewis are not related, though you aren't the only one to point out the similarity.

They've aged apart, so to speak, so the effect is less pronounced now. It might help if you picture Hanks not as the modern, distinguished, Oscar-winning actor, but rather as the roguish young man smirking on the VHS covers of "Big" (1988) or "Splash" (1984). Or more helpfully, picture him dressed as a woman, as he was in his sitcom "Bosom Buddies" (1980-1982).

It's not as difficult with Lewis, who hasn't seemed to age much since arriving on the scene in 1988's "My Stepmother Is an Alien."

Unfortunately, there's no way to compare them side by side, because the two have never worked together.

Both do have family in the business, though.

Lewis is the daughter of character-actor Geoffrey Lewis, a very familiar face on film and TV with more than 200 roles on his résumé. One of his off-screen roles was as father to a big acting family -- four of his other children (Lightfield, Brandy, Deirdre and Matthew Lewis) have all done acting work.

As for Hanks, his younger brother, Jim, has appeared in a number of films and TV shows, including in a TV series and a couple of short films based on the Toy Story movies, reprising his brother's character, Woody.

And, of course, Tom's son, Colin, is making a name for himself on the big and small screens. He can currently be seen in the CBS sitcom "Life in Pieces."
