A harvest of talent: CBS serves up comedy and drama this fall

As TV fans prepare for a delectable fall season, CBS offers viewers a mixed bag of newbies and familiar faces looking for a slice of the prime-time ratings pie. The network has decided to go with five solid new contenders to add to its already strong prime-time lineup.

In addition to returning ratings winners such as "Two and a Half Men" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," three new dramas and two new comedies have been added to the menu, and CBS executives understand the importance of teaming those fresh series with more seasoned fare.

Reality TV shows may be all the rage these days, but there are two series that led the way with groundbreaking footage, real stories and more than one everyday hero. "America's Most Wanted" and "Cops" debuted in 1988 and 1989, respectively, back before reality TV became a jumble of bikini babes and back-stabbing brutes looking for money or romance.
