Q: I was watching "Octopussy" and it sounds as if some of Magda's lines have been dubbed over. What is heard is clearer than other dialogue and it doesn't match with the shapes her mouth is making. Why would they do that?

Rerecording lines was actually a pretty common practice in films at the time (and is still in use), but you're right that it was particularly noticeable in the Bond films, especially with a few of Kristina Wayborn's ("The Silent Lovers," 1980) lines in 1983's "Octopussy."

Essentially, lines are rerecorded when the mics pick up other noise, if the actor has a heavy accent that the producers think would be distracting or hard to understand, or when the line is changed after filming.

Q: I just watched the movie "Uncharted" with Tom Holland, and it felt like there was some kind of cameo toward the end: the guy who said, "Something like that happened to me once." Should I have recognized him? He didn't look familiar.

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

That was Nolan North. And while it's not so surprising that he didn't look familiar, to some he would have sounded very familiar indeed.

"Uncharted" (2022), the big-screen smash released earlier this year starring Tom Holland ("Spider-Man: Homecoming," 2017) and Mark Wahlberg ("The Fighter," 2010), was in fact based on the popular Uncharted series of video games.
