The Forger

Blue-collar thug Ray Cutter (Travolta) is an art forger of such skill that even the world's foremost art experts have difficulty distinguishing his forgeries from the originals. With his son Will (Sheridan) dying of terminal cancer, Ray cuts a deal with a crime boss that gets him released from prison early so that he can spend time at his son's side during his final days. Along with his own father (Plummer), who's been looking after Will during Ray's incarceration, the ex-con tries to make the most of his son's remaining time on Earth. However, the crime boss who got him released from prison in the first place still has a job for Ray to do in return: forging a Monet masterpiece and swapping it for the original without getting caught. With detectives keeping an eye on him and his emotions on a roller-coaster, Ray sets out to pull off what may be the most important forgery of his career.

Q: I enjoyed a couple of comedies back in the early '70s that I was wondering about. One was called "On the Rocks," about a prison. The other show was "The Corner Bar." Both, I think, were on CBS. I can't find anyone else who remembers them. Did I imagine

Your memory is perfect on everything but the network. You're right that "On the Rocks" and "The Corner Bar" were 1970s sitcoms. You're even right that they were on the same network. However, the network was ABC.

Your feat of remembrance is even more impressive considering that neither show was on for very long, nor did either one feature a major star.

Q: I heard that Sarah Jessica Parker doesn't actually smoke, and every cigarette she had during "Sex and the City" was fake. Is it true?

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

I would say that it depends who you ask, but it would probably be more accurate to say that it depends when you ask. Part of the statement is true, though: the cigarettes Sarah Jessica Parker smoked on screen on "Sex and the City" were fake.

"I smoke fake cigarettes in the show," Parker told "E! Online" back when the show was still on the air. "They're called Honey Rose, they have no nicotine, and they smell funny. I think they're made of lettuce or something."
