Q: The opening scenes for "X-Men" and "X-Men: First Class" are identical, despite being filmed 10 years apart. Did they redo it shot for shot for the second film, or did they enhance the footage from the first one?
The first "X-Men" film was released in 2000 and pitted an aged Magneto and Charles Xavier against each other. "X-Men: First Class" (2011) tells how they became friends before becoming enemies. Both films start with the same scene, of Magneto as a boy in a Nazi concentration camp.
The second film's scene was a nearly shot-for-shot remake of the first. I say nearly because, in "First Class," this scene introduces a new character, Sebastian Shaw (played by Kevin Bacon).
