Q: My question concerns "Drop Dead Diva": Please tell me it's coming back! It hasn't been on since September, I believe -- it was Jane's wedding, and she was kissing Grayson when her hubby-to-be walked in on them. Talk about a cliffhanger!

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

The on-screen cliffhanger was rivaled by the off-screen one that happened this winter, as "Drop Dead Diva" was canceled, only to be saved a few months later.

The show's creator said it was all thanks to the fans.

In an interview with (fittingly) TVFanatic.com, Josh Berman cited a fan-driven petition and social media campaign as having changed Lifetime's mind and rescuing the show from the scrap heap.

Vegas, on CBS

Gambling and glamor collide in 1960s-era Sin City as a rancher turned sheriff tries to keep the peace. Sheriff Ralph Lamb butts heads with ruthless Chicago gangster Vincent Savino, who's determined to establish himself as a kingpin.

Period dramas are making quite a splash on television these days.

From HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” to BBC’s “Downton Abbey,” some of TV’s highest ratings and critical praise go to series that shine a spotlight on both the grit and glory of days past.

Leading this charge is AMC’s “Mad Men.”

Q: I am a big fan of "Blue Bloods." What happened to Jennifer Esposito, who played Danny's partner? I thought they made a good team.

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

The story of "Blue Bloods" star Jennifer Esposito's departure has played out as a complicated sort of she-said/they-said-very-little squabble that involves her public struggle with celiac disease and some very complicated contractual business.

According to Esposito, after she reportedly collapsed on set in August, her doctor told her to reduce her workload (she has since decried the 75-hour work weeks that she says the show expected of her).

Criminal Minds, on CBS

The BAU team heads to Chicago to catch a killer targeting middle-aged men. Morgan uncovers a clue that makes him think the killer is connected to the man who molested him as a child.
