Q: Was Roger Rabbit a character before the film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Or was he created just for the film?

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

Roger Rabbit was the subject of a cult-popular novel seven years before he made the very sensible transition to the big screen.

"Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (1988) was based on the novel "Who Censored Roger Rabbit," written by Gary K. Wolf, which was released in 1981. The novel leaned more heavily on the hard-boiled-mystery-spoof angle than it did the behind-the-scenes-of-animated-Hollywood one that was favored by the film.
