Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)

In ancient times, 10 mystical rings were discovered by a man named Xu Wenwu (Chiu-Wai Leung). As a result, he was granted immortality and unmatched power, which allowed him to become a conqueror and to create the Ten Rings organization. Searching for a village said to harbor mythical beasts, Wenwu comes across its guardian, Ying Li (Chen), and the two of them quickly fall in love, leaving Wenwu no choice but to flee the Ten Rings so the couple could raise their two children together. One of their also-immortal children, Shang-Chi (Liu), eventually pursues a normal life in San Francisco, changes his name to Shaun and vows to keep his past a secret. But when the Ten Rings tracks him down, Shang-Chi must face his past -- and his eternal future.

Malignant (2021)

After surviving a mysterious home invasion, Madison (Wallis) is consumed by violent visions of grisly murders, including one of her abusive husband, Derek (Abel). The horror worsens as Madison realizes her visions may not be in her mind at all, but realities fueled by a childhood incident involving her imaginary friend. With the help of her sister, Sydney (Hasson), Madison learns the truth behind her violent visions.

Saint Maud (2019)

Maud (Clark) is a palliative care nurse in charge of minding terminally ill dancer Amanda (Ehle), who has Stage 4 lymphoma. When Amanda confesses to Maud that she fears death, the nurse encourages her to save her soul. But when Maud meets Amanda's new companion, Carol (Frazer), she becomes convinced the woman will drag Amanda into eternal damnation.

Q: This has been annoying me for a while: How could they make "The Hobbit" into three films when the whole "Lord of the Rings" trilogy of books also only got three films?

Allow me to turn that around on you: How could they contain the whole, complicated story of "The Lord of the Rings" in just three films when it required three films just to tell "The Hobbit" properly? (That's likely director Peter Jackson's position on the matter, as he made "The Lord of the Rings" films between 2001 and 2003 and later returned to the world of author J.R.R. Tolkien for "The Hobbit" in 2012.)
