It started out as a local guide to eating and going out in New York City, but Eater has since become one of the most trusted authorities on global food and restaurant culture. Its weekly podcast, "Eater's Digest," has been going strong since its launch in 2019. And this week, Eater seems poised to make a big impression on TV viewers, too.

"Eater's Guide to the World" premieres Wednesday, Nov. 11, on Hulu. The new seven-part series isn't Eater's first foray into television — that honor belongs to "No Passport Required," a collaboration with PBS. It is, however, Eater's first Hulu show and one of the first to be produced under the streamer's 2019 deal with Vox Media Studios (Eater is a Vox Media brand).

A travel docuseries, "Eater's Guide to the World" leans on the online publisher's network of dining authorities to bring you some of the most satisfying, storied and even unexpected food destinations. Casablanca, Tijuana, New York City, Costa Rica, Los Angeles, Miami, Washington, D.C., the Pacific Northwest and Atlanta — these are your stops on the seven-part journey. Expect some drool-inducing food shots as you "dine and drink" with the locals during the episode-by-episode quest for the best bites, whether on-the-go or fine dining. And if the narrator sounds familiar, know that the voice belongs to "Saturday Night Live" alumna Maya Rudolph.

The destinations may seem especially exotic in these pandemic times, when many viewers are desperately craving some new surroundings and experiences. But in an online piece announcing the series and its premiere, Eater explained the importance of airing a food and travel series right now: "In the current and impossibly difficult time for the industry, the series provides us a tremendous opportunity to celebrate restaurants and the beloved talents behind them. It's a reminder to the world of what we lose when restaurants shutter, with a hopeful eye toward the future. ... it's the ultimate love letter to eating."

Ready to embark on a whirlwind tour of culinary hot spots? All seven episodes of Hulu's "Eater's Guide to the World" are available to stream — and binge — beginning Wednesday, Nov. 11.
