Hands up. Who watched Food Network's "Holiday Baking Championship" this past holiday season?

The Bobby Deen-hosted baking competition was great fun and, apparently, enough of a hit that the network has decided to bring it back. This time, though, it'll be less "ho-ho-ho" and more "goodbye snow!"

"Spring Baking Championship" flowers onto TV screens Sunday, April 26, on Food Network, with eight of the nation's best bakers coming together for the ultimate bake-off.

Once again hosted by Bobby Deen, there'll also be three judges on hand to evaluate the sumptuous sweets that the contestants pull out of their ovens: Duff Goldman ("Duff Till Dawn"), Nancy Fuller ("Farmhouse Rules") and Lorraine Pascale ("Lorraine's Fast, Fresh and Easy Food").

Since spring is in the air, the challenges put before the eight contestants have themes ranging from Memorial Day picnics to Mother's Day brunches.

What else? How about carefully crafting some sweets using honey as the main ingredient or baking up some flower-inspired cupcakes?

The six-episode series will whittle the contestants down one by one with a series of spring-themed baking challenges, with the judges sending someone packing each episode.

For us sitting at home, this may all be in good fun, but for the competitors, it's much more serious: after all, there's a big, fat $50,000 check waiting beyond the finish line. Just getting to the finale, though, will be the easy part for the bakers.

After having bested their peers with cupcakes and pies, trifles and limes, the three contestants remaining in the finale will face the ultimate challenge, the one thing that gives bakers nightmares: the dreaded wedding cake.

In the end, only one of these bakers will be named the Spring Baking Champion and take home the $50,000 prize. Finding out who that winner is, though, will have to wait: Food Network's "Spring Baking Championship" is just getting started on Sunday, April 26.
