Celebrity chefs. Boy, do we ever love celebrity chefs. They're all over television these days. There's Gordon Ramsay on Fox ("MasterChef Junior," "Hell's Kitchen") and Anthony Bourdain on ABC and Esquire ("The Taste," "The Getaway"), to name just two of them, and that's not even considering how many can be found on the Food Network and the Cooking Channel.

Speaking of celebrity chefs on the Cooking Channel, that destination for foodies is presenting an all together different kind of celebrity chef in her own holiday special airing, Sunday, Dec. 7: rather than being famous for being a chef, this lady is a famous pop star who also happens to be a chef.

"Holiday Feast with Kelis" will bring music superstar Kelis Rogers (better known as, simply, Kelis) to the screen as she invites audiences to tag along as she and her family prepare a festive holiday dinner for their friends.

A pop star in the kitchen? It's not nearly as far-fetched as it might sound. Kelis is a certified chef who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu culinary school, wrote a cookbook in 2006 and even has her own line of sauces.

In fact, "Holiday Feast with Kelis" isn't even her debut on the Cooking Channel. Her cooking show, "Saucy & Sweet," premiered earlier this year and combines her love of cooking using bold flavors with a behind-the-scenes look at the daily life of a musical celebrity.

So clearly Kelis is no lightweight in the kitchen looking to cash in: this lady's the real deal. For her holiday feast, she'll be taking audiences on a shopping trip to share some of her secrets to picking out only the freshest meats, vegetables and spices.

Back at home in the kitchen, she'll be working with both her mother and sister to whip up some amazing-sounding dishes: Pernil, a traditional Puerto Rican pork dish; carrot and lamb soufflé; some mouthwatering chorizo stuffing; and, for dessert, her own favorite dish: a coconut custard pie.

Would that we could be among the guests enjoying that feast. Instead, we'll just have to be content with watching it on TV.

Whether or not you're a fan of her music, you can't deny that Kelis has some serious chops in the kitchen. "Holiday Feast With Kelis" airs Sunday, Dec. 7, on the Cooking Channel.
