Isn't it funny how TV networks can get a reputation for a certain kind of niche programming? Fair or not, it's definitely what happens. Food Network is the home for all things culinary, but more specifically, the channel has earned a reputation for its cooking competitions. Over on HGTV, you can find shows that deal with every nook and cranny of the home and garden, but it's their big home reno and building shows that get the most name recognition.

So, what happens when these two sister networks team up? Well, we get a competition to see who can build the most breathtaking edible abode, of course, in "All-Star Gingerbread Build," airing Saturday, Nov. 28, on both channels.

This festively themed, hour-long competition will pit two teams made up of some of the biggest stars from both HGTV and Food Network against one another. Their task is a daunting one: build life-sized gingerbread houses that are just as amazing and festive as the scaled-down versions.

It's a big task, and the competitors only have 72 hours to get it done. Luckily, these folks are pros.

From Food Network, we have an accomplished pair of bakers: Ron Ben-Israel, the owner of Ron Ben-Israel Cakes and a judge in "Cake Wars"; and Duff Goldman, the star of "Ace of Cakes" and "Duff Till Dawn." Both are renowned bakers, but scaling a tiny gingerbread house up into an actual house might be a bit out of their comfort zones.

HGTV, on the other hand, is sending in a pair of brothers: the stars of "Property Brothers," that is. Drew and Jonathan Scott are renovation and design experts, and this family duo knows how to make a house look amazing. But how will they do when the decorations are edible?

With Ben-Israel paired up with Jonathan and Goldman with Drew, it's baker vs. baker and brother vs. brother in a festive gingerbread fight. "All-Star Gingerbread Build," the joint Food Network and HGTV special, airs Saturday, Nov. 28, on both networks.
