Growing up on a farm is becoming less and less common these days. Like it or not, the family farm is a dying breed, and not many kids get to enjoy sitting down to a home-cooked meal that's been made with only the freshest of ingredients from their own backyards.

Well, that's exactly what "Farmhouse Rules" on the Food Network is all about. Host Nancy Fuller may be a multimillion-dollar business owner, but that doesn't mean she's forgotten her roots. A grandmother 13 times over, she lives in a 17th-century farmhouse in the picturesque Hudson Valley region of New York -- and she loves when her family stops by the farm for a visit.

The third season of this delightful -- and popular -- show premieres Sunday, Sept. 14, on the Food Network, and the episode will find Fuller's Aunt Jean in town for a visit.

Naturally, a family visit means that there's amazing food to prepare, and Fuller will be whipping up one of her aunt's favorite dishes: homemade fish and chips with a tangy tartar sauce. Throw in a side of Fuller's "super simple succotash," and you've got a meal with as much flavor as alliteration.

Later in the premiere, she'll be off to visit a woman who makes amazing handcrafted bitters: the perfect ingredient for a super tasty dessert that her aunt will no doubt love. Honey pear icebox trifle with soft and easy ginger snaps sounds like a homemade dessert that I can most definitely get behind.

And that's what "Farmhouse Rules" is all about: close family, good friends and fresh food all coming together at the dinner table. It's filmed on Fuller's farm and in the nearby farming community, and the recipes are cooked up right in her own kitchen.

She may be a multimillionaire and the co-owner of a large food company, but Nancy Fuller is still very much a small-town farmer at heart. She may have a huge family, but there's always room for another at her table. Catch this weekend delight when its third season premieres on Sunday, Sept. 14, on the Food Network.
