TV star Susan Saint James officially retired from acting after her hit sitcom "Kate & Allie" ended in 1989, however she seems to need a break from retirement now and then. About once per decade.

In the '90s, she did a guest spot on "The Drew Carey Show," playing the mother of her real-life niece Christa Miller's character, Kate.

Ten years later, she guested on a 2006 episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." This time, her only link to the show was as a fan.

Adam Thomlison / TV Media

Laurence Fishburne's climb to fame was long and slow, and it started even before 1979's "Apocalypse Now."

He did appear in a bit role as a soldier in Francis Ford Coppola's war-drama masterpiece, however seven years prior, he was playing an adopted street kid on "One Life to Live."

It was a fairly large role for someone his age, and he said he "learned a lot."

He opened up about his time on the legendary soap in an interview on ABC's "The View."

Q: My kids love The Fresh Beat Band. Have they released a CD or album?

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

They released two, apparently while you weren't looking.

In fact, they did seem to rush them out, but it was more likely in reaction to the popularity of the first album, released in January 2012, that they released another just 10 months later.
