The Master

Freddie is a Second World War veteran who cannot seem to find a place for himself in a post-war society. Suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, Freddie struggles with substance abuse, troubled relationships and unemployment. One night while he is drunk and looking for a place to sleep, Freddie meets Dodd, the leader of a philosophical movement called “The Cause.” Dodd takes Freddie under his wing and the two travel together, spreading Dodd’s doctrine. But there are others in the movement who are not as welcoming, and they want Freddie gone. Both men must face some harsh truths about themselves and battle their own demons if they are to find peace.
