Q: Is Danny DeVito really as short as he is portrayed, or is it some sort of camera trick?

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

Four-foot-10 star Danny DeVito comes by his height naturally -- no special effects required. But you're right that it's more than a matter of him just being short.

He was born with Fairbank's disease, known medically as multiple epiphyseal dysplasia, a genetic condition that affects bone growth.

He says that his height undoubtedly affected his career trajectory in Hollywood -- that, essentially, some roles go to the short guy, and other ones just don't.

New Releases for the week of March 13 - 19

The Boy Behind the Door

When boyhood best friends Kevin (Dewey) and Bobby (Chavis) wake up inside the trunk of a car, Kevin is taken inside a mysterious house while Bobby is left locked in the truck. With a character known only as "The Creep" (Hauptman) arriving and giving the kidnapper (Bauer van Straten) a wad of cash, it becomes clear something even more sinister is going on than originally thought. What follows is the harrowing journey undertaken by heroic Bobby, who risks life and limb to save his best bud.
