Any new programming to the cabler's roster has a lot to live up to, and there's no doubt that the showrunners for "The Son," with its A-list headliner and high-caliber source material, are well aware of this fact.
Q: I've just started reading Alan Furst's spy novels, and I really enjoy them. Have any been made into movies? They seem well suited for it.
Period war dramas with a bit of romance and a good deal of intrigue do seem like obvious mines for film material, but oddly, only one of Furst's novels has been filmed. His 2008 novel "Spies of Warsaw" got the screen treatment in 2013, but as a miniseries, not a movie.
