Late Laughs for the week of November 22 - 28, 2020

Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Republicans made a big power grab before an election that could very well wipe out their majority in the Senate. Usually when this many white people get together for one last heist it's an Ocean's Eleven movie.

Minnesota, as you know, is the "The Gopher State," as in, "You better gopher a test, because the president gave you COVID."

The Croods, on NBC

An overprotective caveman father wants his adventurous daughter to stay away from new things, but when their home is destroyed, the whole family must venture out into the world together. Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds voice star.

Late Night with Seth Meyers, on NBC

With guests ranging from Gwen Stefani and Adam Sandler, to author Bryan Washington and Senator Amy Klobuchar, Seth Meyers' late night show is loaded with laughs, political jabs and incredible interviews (even if they can't be there in person).

Q: I've recently discovered the reruns of "Bergerac" and I love the lead actor. What else can I see him in? Perhaps he's in a similar role somewhere else.

I literally did a double-take to make sure I understood your question right, because most people these days aren't talking about John Nettles in relation to "Bergerac."

Today, Nettles is generally better known as DCI Tom Barnaby on "Midsomer Murders," a role he played from 1997 to 2011.

But maybe more people should know about "Bergerac," another cop show that starred Nettles from 1981 to 1991, if only to heal the wound they still feel from Nettles leaving "Midsomer."

Scrooged, on AMC

Bill Murray stars as Frank Cross, a mean, embittered TV executive who makes others miserable. When Dickensian ghosts take Cross through his past, present and future, he begins to see the error of his ways in this off-beat retelling of "A Christmas Carol."

A lot has changed in the past several months, but one thing that never seems to change is the power of music to unite us. This year it seems especially important to find safe ways to celebrate, and the stars of the music industry are poised to do just that in the days ahead.

For Life, on ABC

Nicholas Pinnock returns as Aaron Wallace in this Season 2 premiere. Picking up after the Season 1 cliffhanger, Wallace will give his answer to Cyrus (Chance Kelly) and the names of the men killed in the prison riot will finally be revealed.

Q: I'm a big fan of the Tyler Perry series "If Loving You is Wrong." Will it be coming back? It would be very strange for Tyler to let it end the way it did, with so many unanswered questions.

Normally I'd say that it's not the creator's fault since, generally speaking, when a show is canceled, the writers don't have time to craft a neat ending. But that wasn't really the case here.

That's my way of breaking the news gently, by the way: "If Loving You is Wrong" is finished after five drama-filled seasons on OWN.

We actually knew this a while ago. OWN announced back in February (which seems like a lifetime ago) that the fifth season, airing in the spring, would be the last.

NCIS, on CBS

The team scrambles in this Season 18 premiere when a cadaver goes missing. Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Fornell (Joe Spano) seek out the criminal ring leader who sold opiates to Fornell's daughter, Emily (Juliette Angelo), leading to her overdose.
