Star-power surplus: Fox boasts big-name stars in fall lineup

Romantic comedy, science fiction, animation -- there's something for everyone in the Fox fall lineup. And the on-screen talent is so great, you won't want to leave the couch. In addition to a slew of new programming, Fox will bring back a pile of favorites, including "Glee," "Raising Hope" and "Cops," which began Season 24 a couple of weeks back. New programming kicks off Tuesday, Sept. 20, with "New Girl."

LOVIN' LATE NIGHT: Who says you can't go home again? Funnyman and late-night host Jimmy Fallon left sketch comedy series "Saturday Night Live" back in 2004 so he could focus on movies, but he has never forgotten the series that gave him his big break. And on Dec. 17, Fallon will return to the "SNL" stage for his first -- but hopefully not his last -- stint as host.

As TV fans prepare for a delectable fall season, CBS offers viewers a mixed bag of newbies and familiar faces looking for a slice of the prime-time ratings pie. The network has decided to go with five solid new contenders to add to its already strong prime-time lineup.

In addition to returning ratings winners such as "Two and a Half Men" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," three new dramas and two new comedies have been added to the menu, and CBS executives understand the importance of teaming those fresh series with more seasoned fare.
