New Releases for the week of April 21 - 27

The Impossible

Following the devastating aftermath of the deadly tsunami that ravaged coastal Thailand in 2004, a family struggles to stay together in this story based on true events. Maria Bennett is on holiday with her husband and their three sons when an earthquake in the Indian Ocean triggers a tsunami that floods the area and separates Maria and her eldest son from the rest of the family. Amidst chaos and uncertainty, the family fights to be reunited again.

Gangster Squad

In 1949 Los Angeles, a ruthless gangster by the name of Mickey Cohen is running the city, the police unable to put a stop to his cold-blooded rise to power. Led by two sergeants who are willing to do whatever it takes, the crew works to bring down the most powerful man in the California underworld.

Promised Land

The town is struggling economically, but one man's story of how Global Crosspower Solutions destroyed his family farm motivates a grassroots campaign against Butler's proposition.

Q: When is "Burn Notice" coming back? I haven't heard anything about it in a while.

"Burn Notice" has been such a dependable ratings-getter for USA Network that it's unlikely to be canceled suddenly, yet fans always worry.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that every season ends with a dramatic cliffhanger (actually, most episodes do as well), so fans have a lot of emotion invested in the show continuing.

Parts of the Berlin Wall have been removed despite a protest led by David Hasselhoff. Yeah, the thick, crumbling structure that didn't last very long in the 1990s said the wall shouldn't be removed.

 

A new poll shows that 64 per cent of New Jersey residents don't care about New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's weight. That's mostly because Chris Christie IS 64 percent of New Jersey!

The Bold and the Beautiful

Liam and Steffy get busy working on a dress design and finding a suitable justice of the peace to perform their wedding. Liam tells Hope about the wedding and she begins to devise a scheme to stop it, but Rick suggests she think about moving on with Oliver. Steffy shares a heartfelt family moment with Taylor and Thomas as the final preparations for her wedding are made. Katie wakes up and makes a shocking request of Bill. Bill is hesitant but agrees to her terms and he and Brooke decide to put their feelings for one another on hold until she recovers. Caroline and Carter scheme together to get their way after Maya stands her ground when Caroline warns her to stay away from Rick.

Days of Our Lives

Jennifer reunites with Daniel upon her return to Salem when she learns that he knows about Chloe's blackmail scheme. Found out, Chloe decides to leave town to get her life in order, but her friend Anne vows she will take Jennifer down. Meanwhile, Nicole and Vargas resist their attraction to one another for a short time before succumbing to passion in the rectory office. Chad and Abigail pull out all the stops to prevent Anne from exposing Cameron's secret side job as a stripper. Gabi encourages Rafe to pursue love once she discovers he and Kate had something, so he decides to try to make it work with Kate. EJ finally proposes marriage to Sami and she gives him an answer. Brady warns his father to stay away from Kristen after he discovers John gave her a meaningful gift from their past.

General Hospital

Scott panics over what might happen between Luke and Laura and he's poised to make a desperate move. A family in Port Charles suffers despair, while Sabrina receives a heartfelt promise from Patrick. Lucy enlists Alexis to represent her in her bid to become Rafe's legal guardian. Sonny receives a visitor at his door, but he's not sure if he's talking to Connie or Kate. Tracy has a surprise for AJ just as he starts to feel confident he'll remain at the top of ELQ. After enduring a tense exchange with Nikolas, AJ revels in the torment Brenda's presence causes Carly and Sonny. Brenda learns of Michael's confession to Sonny and is shocked, while Carly decides she must confront Brenda. Ellie and Spinelli dig deeper into the truth about Dante and Lulu's baby.

The Young and the Restless

Seeking to get past her affair with Carmine, Lauren suggests that she and Michael go on a holiday together. Victor and Adam unite to run Newman Enterprises and Victor later asks his other children to return to the company. Jack asks Phyllis to move in with him after their romantic getaway in Istanbul, while Nick begins to broach the topic of having children with a reluctant Avery. Meanwhile, Katherine's test results indicate she has a tumour and she tells Cane not to share that information with anyone beyond Lily. Tyler shares a drink with Noah and they commiserate over their trust issues. Summer sports a new look to attract Kyle's attention, while Chloe continues to pressure Chelsea into finding someone to pass off as her baby's father.
