Q: Is it true that Al Roker is a mystery writer?

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

Yes he is, and it won't seem quite as odd when you see the sort of subject matter he writes about.

He and his co-author, Dick Lochte, write lighthearted, comical mysteries. They got started with "The Morning Show Murders," about a talk show personality who is implicated in a murder. The fictional show, "Wake Up America," bears a striking resemblance to Roker's own "Today" show.

Fairy tales have been capturing people's imaginations for hundreds of years, so it should come as no surprise that one of TV's biggest hits is an innovative drama that offers viewers a new take on some classic characters. But make no mistake, this is not a tale for young kids to gather round; this is a fairy tale for grownups.

Q: Could you tell me if "Army Wives" is coming back on this season?

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

As usual, Lifetime is in no rush to announce that decision.

Even though the show's seventh season wrapped months ago, in early June, the network has still not announced if it will return for an eighth. Fortunately, previous renewal announcements have come in the early fall, so fans shouldn't have to wait long to find out.

Q: I just finished watching a TV show from England that had only five episodes, called "DNA," starring Tom Conti. What happened to it? Also, after the first two episodes, some of the main characters were gone. What's up with that?

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

What happened to "DNA" happened quite a while ago now. The series (known as "Donovan" in its native Britain) premiered back in 2004 and was gone by 2006.

And what happened was it was simply canceled. Though for us a five-episode run would indicate a flop, the show was actually fairly popular -- enough to earn a complete-series DVD set a couple of years after it wrapped.
