Q: Will "Banished" be returning for another season?

Unfortunately, the British Broadcasting Corporation has banished the show from its schedule (these things just write themselves sometimes).

While frustrating for fans, this isn't a total surprise. "Banished" was initially described as a "seven-part series," and while that can often just refer to an initial order (so that if it's a hit, the network can just commission more "parts"), in this case, the BBC stuck to its plan.

Women in Prison, on TLC

Learn about a millionaire housewife who ended up in prison after taking the law into her own hands in this new episode. Another case follows the story of a religious woman who found solace in prescription pills until her doctors cut off her supply.

Usually you hear about actors leaving shows. In this case, it's the opposite: "Matlock" left Julie Sommars. Technically it left Los Angeles, and Sommars wasn't willing to join it.

Duck Dynasty, on A&E

When Jase's son, Reed, proposes to his girlfriend, Reese in inspired to fan the flames of romance with Missy in this new episode. Meanwhile, Sadie asks Willie to be a guest lecturer in her business class, but things go awry when Uncle Si tags along.

To Tell the Truth, on ABC

Fashion guru and entrepreneur Daymond John joins the celebrity panel as they try to figure out which contestant is lying in a new episode of this updated game show. Hosted by Anthony Anderson, the program also features Betty White and NeNe Leakes.

Certainly Lily and Alfie are the most famous of the Allen clan, but showbiz is in their blood. The pop songstress and the "Game of Thrones" star (Alfie plays Theon Greyjoy, for those who don't know) are the children of actor-comedian Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen. 

American Ninja Warrior, on NBC

The top 30 qualifiers from Los Angeles travel to the City Finals course at Universal Studios in this new episode. The competitors prepare to face such obstacles as Salmon Ladder, The Wedge, Helix Hang and Invisible Ladder.

New Releases for the week of July 10 - 16

The Divergent Series: Allegiant

At last, the dictatorial leader of the walled city of Chicago is dead, and Evelyn (Watts) is in charge of the populace. As she consolidates her hold on power, her son, Four (James), and series heroine Tris Prior (Woodley) venture beyond the city's protective walls. After braving and barely surviving the harsh, desolate wasteland that surrounds Chicago, the duo finally comes to another city where they meet its leader, the charismatic but enigmatic David (Daniels), who agrees to help them return peace to Chicago. His motives, however, may not be entirely pure.

Director: Robert Schwentke. Stars: Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Naomi Watts, Jeff Daniels, Octavia Spencer, Zoë Kravitz. 2016. 120 min. Action.

 

Green Room

The members of a small punk band, "The Ain't Rights," are touring the beautiful Pacific Northwest when a local radio host secures a gig for them at a nightclub. When the band arrives, they discover that it's a bar for neo-Nazis, but they decide to play anyway and put on a successful show. At the end of the night, as they're preparing to leave, they witness a grisly murder in the club's green room. Now the only witnesses to the horrific crime, the bandmates end up in a fight for their lives to escape the green room, get out of the club and contact the police.

Director: Jeremy Saulnier. Stars:Anton Yelchin, Joe Cole, Alia Shawkat, Callum Turner, Mark Webber, Imogen Poots, Patrick Stewart. 2015. 95 min. Horror.

 

Miracles from Heaven

Anna Beam (Rogers) is a 10-year-old girl with a chronic and incurable illness. While climbing a tree, a branch gives way and Anna plunges dangerously to the ground, although much to her mother's (Garner) shock, she emerges from the ordeal with only a few scratches. Even more surprisingly, when doctors examine her after the fall, they can find no signs of the incurable illness that has ruled her life for so long, leading the Beam family to conclude that a miracle has happened.

Director: Patricia Riggen. Stars: Jennifer Garner, Kylie Rogers, Martin Henderson, Brighton Sharbino, Courtney Fanster. 2016. 109 min. Drama.
