Aquaman

Arthur Curry (Momoa) is unique: a half-human, half-Atlantean, with a foot in both worlds. When his half-brother Orm (Wilson) ascends to the throne of Atlantis, he begins uniting the disparate underwater kingdoms with plans to declare war on the humans of the surface. After nearly being killed by Orm, Arthur teams up with Atlantean Mera (Heard) and begins searching for a legendary artifact once owned by the founder of Atlantis in the hope that it will help him defeat his brother and save humanity from a watery apocalypse.

Director: James Wan. Stars: Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren. 2018. 143 min. Action.

 

If Beale Street Could Talk

Childhood friends Tish (Layne) and Fonny (James) come to realize just how deep their love for each other is as they grow older and begin a romantic relationship. When Fonny is arrested for a heinous crime that he could not have committed, it looks like a corrupt system will throw him behind bars just as Tish discovers that she's pregnant. While Tish's own family is supportive, Fonny's mother can't accept that their child will be born out of wedlock, further complicating the already difficult situation that the young couple is facing.

Second Act

Maya (Lopez) has been a star employee at the discount superstore, so when she's passed over for a big promotion in favor of someone with less experience but a better education, she becomes frustrated by her situation. When she receives a call out of the blue from the CEO of a major corporation, she's confused. They want her to come in to interview for an executive position, and she soon learns that her godson posted an "enhanced" version of her resume online, forcing her to choose between taking her dream job and telling the truth about her education and experience.

Cheer up: Here's some news that should put a smile on a lot of faces: one of the most hilarious -- and most bizarre -- dark comedies on TV is back for a second season. Syfy series "Happy!" first premiered back in the dying days of 2017, and it returns with a new season of sex, violence and fantastical creatures on Wednesday, March 27.
