New releases for the week of August 4 - 10

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

Deep within the Pokémon universe, Tim Goodman (Smith), a young insurance salesman, abandons his Pokémon training due to the death of his mother and the death of his missing father, Det. Harry Goodman. To collect his father's possessions, Tim must travel to the nearby metropolis of Ryme City, where he discovers Det. Pikachu (Reynolds), and realizes that he is the only one who can understand and communicate with the sleuthing creature. Pikachu eventually reveals that he was his father's partner, and explains they were investigating a case when Tim's dad mysteriously disappeared. Tim and Det. Pikachu join forces to solve that case and unravel the mystery of what happened to Harry. The film is based on the Pokémon franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri.

Tolkien

J.R.R. Tolkien (Hoult) is an orphan and an incredible artist navigating his formative years in school with the help of a group of friends. While at school, Tolkien meets and falls deeply in love with Edith Bratt (Collins), who shares some of his deep-rooted passions. Tolkien finds encouragement and companionship in a fellowship of friends as they mature and venture beyond the classroom. However, after the onset of the First World War, the relationship between the friends is tested, and Tolkien is inspired to write some of the most famous fantasy novels of all time: "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings."

With the addition of Alice (Pearlman), Olive (Grier), Vicki (Weston) and Helen (Somerville), the newly established sisterhood discovers that age is nothing but a number when you're chasing your lifelong dreams.
