Q: I was watching an episode of "Game of Thrones," and in one scene some of the actors sing a song that appears again during the credits at the end but is performed by a different singer. Do you know who performed the credits version?

That was buzz-generating indie-rock band The National performing "The Rains of Castamere" in the popular HBO fantasy series "Game of Thrones."

The song's lyrics are drawn straight from the books, written by George R.R. Martin, on which the show is based -- specifically the third book, "A Storm of Swords."

It appears in the episode itself, performed (part of it, anyway) by a group of Lannister soldiers on the eve of a battle.

Q: I heard a while ago that they were making a movie out of Ken Bruen's novel "London Boulevard," but I never heard another word. Is that still happening?

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

Actually, it already happened.

Despite some impressive star power, and the popularity of mystery author Ken Bruen, "London Boulevard" was released in 2010 with very little splash -- in North America, at least.

It starred film luminaries Colin Farrell (a year after he appeared in the multi-Oscar-winning "Crazy Heart") and Keira Knightley in the story of an ex-con trying to stay clean by taking an "honest" job looking after a reclusive film star.

Q: We've really gotten into "Legend of the Seeker," but it ended abruptly with no next season. What happened? Is there any talk of it coming back?

Author:
Adam Thomlison / TV Media

There was talk of it coming back, but that was a while ago, and even that has disappeared.

"Legend of the Seeker" premiered in 2008, going straight into syndication rather than being produced and aired exclusively on one network. Such a strategy works well for fringe fare such as this, with its swordplay and magic.
